Given the rapid advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), this technology is quickly infiltrating judicial systems worldwide. In particular, China, recognized as one of the pioneers in this field, has adopted AI in judicial processes to enhance accuracy, speed, and efficiency in judicial decision-making. In this context, China has established "smart courts" that provide judges with new approaches to optimize case management and data analysis. The significance of this technology is also notable in Iran's judicial system, especially considering the numerous challenges it faces, such as high case volumes and complexities in decision-making. This study aims to examine the applications and challenges of AI in Iran’s judicial system and compare it with China’s experience, particularly in areas related to judicial discretion and the complexities of decision-making in sensitive cases. Additionally, the research analyzes the impact of this technology on the principles of justice, transparency, and accuracy in the judicial process, proposing strategies to integrate AI with human judicial discretion in Iran. The research method employed is descriptive-analytical, using data and documents related to China’s smart courts to analyze the challenges and opportunities of implementing this technology in Iran, while providing an international perspective on the global trends in this field. The findings suggest that the use of AI in the judicial system, besides improving efficiency and accuracy, requires a balance between technological productivity and the preservation of human principles such as judicial discretion to prevent ethical and legal issues.
